Corner lightbox at retail junction
Project brief
A fashion retailer needed visibility from two pedestrian approaches at a glazed corner unit. The landlord required minimal penetration into the curtain wall and a clean exterior read without visible fasteners from the primary walkway. The marketing team wanted swap-friendly graphics for seasonal campaigns without removing the entire enclosure.
Engineering approach
We designed a slim aluminum extrusion corner assembly with internal cable raceways and gasketed glass faces. LED boards wrap the inner perimeter with reflector geometry tuned to eliminate hot stripes on the short return leg. Double-face construction shares a central spine to reduce weight versus two independent boxes. Moisture management includes weep paths and breathable desiccant cartridges accessible from the service side.
Installation notes
The unit was lifted in one piece during overnight closure, then shimmed to plumb against slightly imperfect mullion alignment. Power enters from the ceiling void through a flexible conduit with service loop; drivers live in a ventilated pocket behind removable panels. Graphic changes use a magnetic frame system documented with torque limits so staff do not overtighten and bow the acrylic.
Results
Uniformity exceeded the client’s reference photos from flagship stores. After six months including heavy rain cycles, internal inspection showed no condensation on optics. The facilities team reports ten-minute graphic swaps during off-hours, supporting rapid campaign turnover.
